+Graduated from Alcorn State University in Lorman, Ms with a B.A. in Political Science. Received a M.A. in Guidance and Counseling from Texas Southern University in Houston, TX and a Juris Doctorate from Thurgood Marshall School of Law also in Houston, TX.
She worked in Legal Services for a number of years before coming to AJFC Head Start Program in 1993. Ms. Sewell worked as Parent Involvement Coordinator, providing parent training, staff training, self assessment and policy council training. Since 2000 she has served as director of several programs within the agency providing services and advocacy that support low income initiatives. She served as Chief Operation Officer handling the day to day operation of the Agency.
Recently she was named Chief Executive Officer. She has extensive experience in grant management and budget development, program planning, organizational structure and systematic reviews.
A Natchez native, Sewell has one son. She is an active member of the Wilderness Baptist Church and enjoys spiritually enriching activities. |
